OUR STORY

Andrew and Thuy met over 15 years ago in March 2010, at an interview for a postgraduate Coro Fellowship Program with neither expecting the day and their brief meeting would eventually result in over a decade of love and partnership, a civil ceremony surrounded by immediate family in Los Angeles City Hall on May 18th, 2024, and a wedding reception in Northern California on September 27th, 2025.

Needless to say, they both were selected for that fellowship and began a nine-month program together later in the year. The two sat next to each other during happy hour in a booth at Little Bar in West Los Angeles after the first day of orientation and had their first real conversation.

They started going on dates part way through the program that included crab boils, spicy Korean tofu soup, taco trucks in gas station parking lots, visits to Orange County for Hue regional specialties, and cocktails and seafood by the beach in Venice. It was immediately clear they both had a love for exploring cities, enjoying great food, and spending time together.

Andrew and Thuy came to Los Angeles in 2006 and 2005 respectively for college but after their postgraduate program ended it became increasingly clear that LA would be home. Both pursued careers in public service, Thuy at UCLA and Andrew working for elected officials. They have built a life together where they continue to take full advantage of living in Los Angeles seeing live music, trying new restaurants, and exploring cultural institutions. They live with their four-year-old dog Rocky.

Your presence at our wedding is more than enough! If you wish to give a gift, the wedding reception will be traditionally Vietnamese and follow Vietnamese wedding customs. This extends to gift-giving, which usually comes in the form of a cash gift in a red envelope. Gifts in red envelopes mark an auspicious start to married life. The bride and groom will visit each table during the reception to thank each guest and receive envelopes.

We also understand that, though this is the norm in the Vietnamese community, this may be a new concept for many guests who may prefer to give in a different way. With that in mind, we would also greatly appreciate a contribution to our honeymoon fund that can be found at www.honeyfund.com/andrewandthuy
